Toyota revealed the updated 2027 Tundra in July 2026. The big changes are a sharper front end, a new Trailhunter package, a standard 14-inch touchscreen and Toyota Safety Sense 4.0. Full specs and pricing aren’t out yet. Toyota says those details are scheduled to be announced in fall 2026.

A Sharper Look for 2027
Toyota’s CALTY Design Research team shaped the new front end. It uses crisp, square lines with a vertical stance. A new center lower bumper adds a tougher look. Rectangular fog lights now sit cleanly in the bumper. The grille uses a hexagonal theme that changes by trim.
The lighting improves too. The grille-mounted LED light bar is now brighter. RIGID fog lights are also available for low-visibility conditions.
The New Trailhunter Package
The biggest news for off-road fans is the new Trailhunter package. It’s based on the SR5 grade. It adds overlanding hardware straight from the factory.

Standard 14-Inch Screen and Upgraded Tech
Every 2027 Tundra now gets a 14-inch touchscreen. It runs the newest Toyota Audio Multimedia system. Toyota built the system in North America with Toyota Connected North America. It adds 5G connectivity and a phone-style home screen with custom widgets. It also responds faster to “Hey Toyota” voice prompts.
Built-In Drive Recorder
A standard dash cam. When it’s turned on, the truck’s exterior cameras capture 20-second clips.
Digital Key in Your Phone’s Wallet
Lock, unlock and start the truck from a compatible phone’s wallet app. Requires an active Remote Connect trial or subscription.
2.4kW Inverter
Offered on i-FORCE MAX models. It provides power for tools, gear and recreational equipment.
Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 Comes Standard

Current Crash-Test Ratings
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the 2026 Tundra a 5-star overall safety rating. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety notes that the Crew Cab’s rear seats and rear seat belts were updated starting with 2025 models. The change improves occupant protection in frontal crashes. Crash ratings for the 2027 model haven’t been published.
What Carries Over and What Toyota Hasn’t Confirmed Yet
Toyota confirms the 2027 Tundra keeps a gas twin-turbo V6 and an available i-FORCE MAX hybrid. Output, towing, payload and fuel economy figures for 2027 haven’t been released. EPA ratings for 2027 haven’t been published either. Until they are, the current 2026 Tundra is the best benchmark.

How the i-FORCE MAX Hybrid Works
The Tundra i-FORCE MAX adds a motor generator. It sits between the twin-turbo V6 and the 10-speed transmission. Toyota says the motor handles engine start-up, electric driving, electric assist and energy regeneration. Its added power flows through the transmission.
Frame, Suspension and Beds
The 2026 Tundra rides on a fully boxed, high-strength steel-ladder frame. It uses a multi-link rear suspension with coil springs. Beds come in 5.5-, 6.5- and 8.1-foot lengths. Each is an aluminum-reinforced composite bed built to resist dents and rust. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and four-wheel drive is available.
